NFA LOANS SUCCESSFULLY RE-STRUCTURED __ National Food Authority administrator Angelito T. Banayo (2nd from left) leads the toast following the successful re-structuring of NFA loans. The NFA successfully raised P75 B to partly refinance its short term liabilities thru a syndicated 10-year loan facility arranged by the Development Bank of the Philippines and Land Bank of the Philippines. This milestone transaction is part of the agency’s management of liability program to restructure its outstanding obligations with financial institutions by extending its debt maturity profile from a mix of 70 percent short-term and 30 percent long-term at the start of the new administration to a 25-75 percent ratio of short and long term loans after the issuance of the loan facility. Aside from improving its credit risk profile, and easing its tight cash flow liquidity, the NFA is also able to take advantage of the prevailing low interest rates. The loan syndication was participated by BDO, Unibank, Inc., China Banking Corp., DBP, LBP, Metro Bank and Trust Corp., Mizuho Corp. Bank Ltd., Philippine National Bank and Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation. With the availment of the loan facility, the NFA is expected to further pursue domestic palay buying to help local farmers. Also in photo are DBP Executive Vice President Susan Z. Prado, First Metro Investment Corporation Sr. Vice President Justin Ocampo (at the background, in white) and BDO Sr. Exec. Vice President Walter C. Wasamer (at right).
