| June 24, 2010 | June 24, 2010 | Launching of the Contaminants Laboratory at FDC | The Contaminants Laboratory was created in an effort to strengthen compliance of tests and analysis with international protocols in order to strengthen market confidence in agricultural, animal and fisheries foods and food product exports. It will serve as DA’s centralized laboratory for trace level analysis of residues using sophisticated equipment and an avenue to strengthen the Department’s Food Safety and Food security policies. FDC which has been adequately providing services to the food industries and government agencies for the past 20 years is now open for contaminants research and analysis services. | | June 28, 2010 | June 28, 2010 | Inauguration of the NFA Data Center at the NFA Visayas Avenue at 3:00pm | The NFA Data Center was constructed to serve as depository warehouse of all information captured and processed by the electronic Integrated Financial and Operations Management Information System (e-IFOMIS). Likewise, it is where the running applications of e-IFOMIS is stored to be accessed by NFA users nationwide thru the Internet.
The NFA Data Center consists of state-of-the-art equipment and software. It has blade servers, precision airconditioning system, fire suppression system, 20 kva parallel redundant uninterruptible power supply (UPS), access control system, surveillance system and an automatic transfer switch (ATS) that automatically shifts the source of power from Meralco to a 175 kva generator set in case of power interruption. It has a fiber optic Internet connection. It is being managed by the Corporate Planning and Management Services Department.
The NFA Data Center will be launched and inaugurated on June 28, 2010 with no less than the NFA Administrator Jessup P. Navarro as Guest of Honor together with Ms. Celia Z. Tan, Asst. Administrator and Chairperson of the e-IFOMIS Project Steering Committee, NFA Executive Committee, with invited guests from the IT community, NFA Executives and NFA personnel who made the NFA Data Center possible.
The NFA Data Center is one of the major legacy projects of NFA under the leadership of Administrator Jessup P. Navarro in its support for the Food Security and Stabilization mandate of the agency.
