June 2, 2025 / ZAMBOANGA CITY โ In an effort to promote transparency and stakeholder participation, the National Food Authority (NFA) Region IX successfully conducted the Public Consultation on the Proposed Implementing Guidelines for theย Conduct of Auction for Aging NFA Buffer Stocks across the region. The event was held both face-to-face and via virtual platform.

Regional Manager Lolita O. Sanedrin welcomed the participants and gave an overview of the Public Consultation. It was then followed by a detailed presentation of the proposed guidelines by Assistant Regional Manager Jordan L. Valente.
After the presentation, the floor was opened for questions, suggestions, and feedback from the Stakeholders which composed of representatives from the government sector, Farmersโ Cooperatives Associations, and Private Individuals. OIC-BM Joann B. Bernardo of ZCBO and OIC-BM Rogelio Antonio B. Lumo together with their staff were also present during the activity.
The said consultation sought to gather insights, comments, and recommendations from stakeholders regarding the proposed guidelines on the auction. The auction initiative is in accordance with Republic Act 12078 which aims to enhance transparency in the disposition of aging buffer stocks, expand market reach, secure better prices, and minimize storage costs and potential lossesโwhile upholding the agencyโs commitment to national food security.
