NFA Engages Stakeholders in Public Consultation on Proposed Auction Guidelines for Ageing Buffer Stocks
Cebu City | June 03, 2025 – In line with its commitment to transparency and collaborative policymaking, the National Food Authority (NFA) Central Visayas conducted a Public Consultation on the Proposed Implementing Guidelines on the Conduct of Auction for Ageing NFA Buffer Stocks today at the NFA Conference Hall in Banilad, Cebu City.
The forum was held in a hybrid format, combining both face-to-face and virtual participation, to ensure broad stakeholder involvement across the region.
Led by Acting Regional Manager II Ovelito C. Baritua, the consultation aimed to gather insights, concerns, and recommendations from key stakeholders to help shape a more effective and responsive auction process for ageing rice stocks.
Acting Assistant Regional Manager Pilita P. Barajan and OIC Branch Manager Emily L. Diputado presented the highlights of the proposed guidelines, setting the stage for a productive exchange of ideas. Among the participants were the officers of Grains Retailers Confederation (GRECON) Cebu Chapter led by Consolacion Mayor Teresa P. Alegado, Regional Farmers Action Council Chairperson Deuel Puracan, PFAC Chairpersons, BJMP ARDO Jail Senior Superintendent Jessie Calumpang and officials from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center.
The forum provided an opportunity for stakeholders to voice their opinions, raise concerns, and propose improvements to the draft guidelines. Their input will play a vital role in refining the final version of the policy to ensure fairness, efficiency, and alignment with the needs of the industry.
The NFA continues to uphold its mandate of ensuring food security while fostering collaboration with farmers, traders, retailers, and other partners in the grains sector.
