Good Rice, Secure Future: NFA Enhances Quality Assurance Across Region 10

All rice and palay stored in NFA Region 10 warehouses must meet strict quality standards to ensure they are safe for distribution to LGUs and the public. While local Quality Assurance Officers monitor stock conditions daily, the recent RTET Quality Audit by NFA Region 8 provided an impartial evaluation to strengthen food safety and public trust.

Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines — The National Food Authority (NFA) Region 10 has successfully concluded the Regional Technical Evaluation Team (RTET) – Quality Audit, conducted by the visiting audit team from NFA Region 8, as part of the agency’s nationwide quality assurance initiative.

The audit, which spanned several days, covered all NFA Region 10 offices including:

  • NFA Misamis Oriental Branch Office and NFA Camiguin Sub-Office

  • NFA Bukidnon Branch Office

  • NFA Lanao del Norte Branch Office and NFA Misamis Occidental Sub-Office

The RTET audit forms part of the NFA’s nationwide strategy to ensure the quality, safety, and integrity of government rice stocks. By assigning a different regional office—Region 8 in this case—to audit Region 10, the NFA upholds the principles of impartiality, transparency, and operational consistency.

The Region 8 RTET team conducted thorough inspections of palay and rice stocks, assessed warehouse storage conditions, verified compliance with food safety protocols, and reviewed documentation related to stock management and quality control. They also evaluated the performance of local Quality Assurance Officers (QAOs) and recommended further measures to enhance warehouse operations where applicable.

“The successful completion of the RTET audit reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement,” said Regional Manager Tecson. “It affirms that Region 10’s warehouses are compliant with national standards, and we are proud to contribute to the agency’s mission of ensuring food security across the country.”

The initiative aligns with the NFA’s nationwide campaign #TiyakAngBigasPanatagAngBukas, which translates to “Assured Rice, Secured Future.” It is a reminder of the agency’s vital role in delivering safe, high-quality rice to Filipino households, especially during times of disaster, economic strain, or national emergency.

With the audit now concluded, NFA Region 10 remains committed to upholding the highest standards in rice storage, handling, and distribution—ensuring that every grain stored in its warehouses is safe, clean, and ready to serve the needs of the Filipino people.
