NFA-Davao del Norte Branch Office receives DAR Recognition for Outstanding PAHP Project Support
June 19, 2025 – With pride and honor, the NFA-Davao del Norte Branch Office received the Plaque of Recognition from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), a considerable achievement that reflects our dedication and effectiveness in supporting the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (PAHP) Project. This recognition specifically highlights our initiatives in procuring palay from local Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations. A significant contributor to this success is the Dujali Free Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, a Farmer Cooperative here in Davao del Norte. This Branch Office proudly secured the second-highest purchase among all National Food Authority Branch Offices for January to December 2024.

NFA Region VII strengthens ties with DSWD for emergency rice support
As part of its commitment to reinforce disaster preparedness and promote inter-agency collaboration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) led by Special Assistant to the Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group and OIC of the National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau, Leo L. DA Secretary Visits GID Roxas Warehouse, Holds Dialogue with Farmers in Isabela
Roxas, Isabela — June 20, 2025. Reinforcing the government's commitment to agricultural modernization and the empowerment of farmers, Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Laurel P. Tiu Jr. conducted an on-site visit to the GID Roxas Warehouse of the National Food Authority (NFA) Isabela Branch Office located in Roxas, Isabela.

FROM REPAIR TO READINESS: WAREHOUSES REOPEN IN REGION 02
Santiago City, Isabela – In support of the national drive to enhance food security and modernize agricultural infrastructure, the Department of Agriculture (DA), through its Masagana Agri-Food Infrastructure Modernization (MAFIM) program, has completed the rehabilitation of six out of ten National Food Authority (NFA) warehouses across Region 02. Additionally, rehabilitation work at the Magsaysay Grains Center is partially completed, with a portion of the facility already in use.
This achievement underscores the government's commitment to enhancing post-harvest systems, minimizing grain losses, and supporting Filipino farmers in ensuring their palay reaches the NFA in optimal condition.
While the rehabilitation efforts brought significant improvements in structural integrity, safety, and operational efficiency, they did not involve expanding the storage capacity. The focus was on upgrading existing infrastructure to meet modern standards. Improvements included the replacement of damaged roofing, reinforced walls, enhanced ventilation systems, stronger flooring, and upgraded pest control measures—ensuring the safe and long-term preservation of rice buffer stocks and the consistent quality of grains.

These infrastructure improvements are part of the DA’s comprehensive three-year roadmap to modernize NFA facilities nationwide. Region 02, one of the Philippines’ major rice-producing areas, was prioritized to enhance buffer stocking capacity and improve grain procurement operations.
A Stronger Commitment to Farmers and Food Security
NFA Administrator Larry R. Lacson lauded the project as a landmark achievement in the agency’s ongoing modernization efforts, emphasizing that it marks only the beginning of broader reforms.
“The rehabilitation of our warehouses under the MAFIM program greatly enhances our ability to safeguard rice stocks and respond swiftly in times of crisis,” he said. “This is more than just infrastructure—it’s a vital step toward a stronger, more resilient, and dependable food supply system for every Filipino. This marks just the beginning—further improvements are already in the pipeline.”
Local farmers and officials have welcomed the development, particularly amid challenges such as falling palay prices, which have dropped to as low as ₱10.00/kg. For many, the project is more than just an infrastructure upgrade—it is a tangible sign of renewed government support.
“This gives us hope,” said one farmer in Isabela. “We now feel confident that what we produce will be handled properly, and that the government is truly standing with us.”
With the next harvest season approaching, the newly rehabilitated warehouses are expected to play a crucial role in minimizing post-harvest losses—ensuring that no grain is wasted and every farmer’s hard work is fully valued.#

The role of the National Food Authority (NFA) focuses on the acquisition, maintenance, and distribution of rice buffer stock. NFA shall maintain an optimal level of national rice inventory to be sourced solely from local farmers and to distribute rice during emergency/calamity situations and sustain the disaster relief program of the government during natural or man-made calamities.
